Lakme Fashion Week SR’12 dawns in 3 weeks

This season, la much-awaited Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 is all set to blow the minds of la Tinsel town’s fashionistas. Vogue+ Correspondent Madhura Sansare delves into the minutiae of this a-la-mode fiesta that is all set to kick-start in just 3 weeks…

With a grand total of 83 designers and 9 sponsors showcasing their talent, the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 guarantees a nationwide fashion fervor. The fashion week is scheduled from March 2 to March 6, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai.

LFW SR’12 announced a number of new initiatives for the season, including an exclusive Indian Textile Day and ‘The New Source’– an interesting mix of art, culture and various other activities. “The Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 promises surprises to the B-Town,” said Anjana Sharma, Director Fashion, IMG.

Lakmé Fashion Week will sail beyond the boundaries of its homeland with iconic international designer Bibhu Mohapatra, who will debut in LFW runaway.

The coveted young designer Vikram Phadnis will be backed by Imitiaz Khatri Group, INK Infrastructure, while Lakme’s official logistics partner DHL sets to feature the much talented Narendra Kumar. INIFD opens the gates of glam and glitz for two new talents, Vinod and Manoj, who aim to help the masses reach fashion.

After a long pause of 12 years, Rohit Bal returns to the LFW platform as the Lakmé Grand Finale designer. The veteran designer will be interpreting the Lakmé Absolute range by Lakmé.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 is one of the most sorted fashion show-cum-exhibition to be held at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai from March 2 to March 6, 2012.
