Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 varies significantly from its previous seasons. Vogue+ Correspondent Madhura Sansare, tells you how…
Change in management of LFW; Top Boss replaced.
At this season of the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, one man will be conspicuous by his absence, at least in his official capacity.
Anil Chopra, LFW top boss and CEO of Lakme Lever, put in his papers after the last season of LFW. Chopra had been working with Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) for the last 12 years. Speaking to Vogue+ in a press convention about the very unanticipated news, Chopra confirmed his resignation and told us, “I’ve been working for 37 years… I felt now I should do something other than this.”
Replacing him is Farida Kaliyadan, General Manager of Lakmé. When asked about this season of LFW, she said, “Lakmé has a legacy of blending contemporary international fashion and beauty trends while catering to the preferences of the Indian woman. With Lakmé taking a significant leap with the launch of Lakmé ABSOLUTE, and Rohit Bal as the Lakmé Grand Finale designer, we are looking forward to celebrating the best of fashion and beauty in this dynamic season of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012.”
Super-model Nina Manuel replaces Bandana Tewari as host of LFW TV!
LFW TV, the online channel that live streams designer shows and showcases behind-the-scene activities from Lakmé Fashion Week across the globe will see Super Model Nina Manuel come on board as the host this season. This role was previously played by Bandana Tewari, who had been associated with the successful franchise since its inception. Tewari earlier interviewed models, designers and guests for the exclusive live streaming channel.
The official line from the hosts about the replacement is that they wanted a fresh new face for the job. With more than a decade of modeling and TV career behind her, Manuel still may not exactly fit the description!
But it would be interesting to see how Manuel, who is once again a frequent face in the social circuit after her quiet months in the United States, takes up the challenge. Meanwhile, Tewari will not involve with the Lakme Fashion Week in any official capacity now!
The online streaming channel will take a step further this time and allow buyers, sponsors and fashion enthusiasts, around the world to gain real time access to the action.
