Fashion week fever seems to have gripped the Capital and with 138 designers set to show their creations to desi and International buyers at the Wills India Fashion Week 2012, the mania is only justified…

As usual, the Autumn Winter collections this season are a mixed bag of designs. While some designers have gone all out and given prime importance to Indian textiles, there are also those whose silhouettes boast of imported fabrics, molded into structured outfits with appealing cuts.

Anupama Dayal’s new line will see her indulge in one of her favourite obsessions — hand painted textiles. Inspired by spices and Surat, the silhouettes, she says, reflect the insane colours of the native craft. In shades of madder red, indigo, mehendi, haldi, paprika and cinnamon, the outfits stand out also because of the unique drapes, which Anupama insists can be used to suit your mood and several occasions. Janavi — Cashmere with Character is, as the name suggests, about the luxury fabric. This time their line highlights designs in Chantilly mesh and velvets with Cashmere as the base.

The pieces are essentially add-ons and make for perfect companions to day and night wear… Just drape one around your neck or tangle it on your arm and you’re ready to go! Designer Sonam Dubal says that her line is a riot of colours and the designs are meant to take you through several landscapes and other serene views to fuse a spiritual and cultural metaphor on the runway. Black and white meets burgundy and saffron and the result is a splash of colours for the wearer to indulge in.

The irresistible pull of the extraordinary fabrics, the impeccable style and the clothes et al on display; we cannot wait to bear witness to this super exciting event.
