Madhuri Dixit inspired by Bengal

Bollywood’s evergreen beauty Madhuri Dixit transformed into a Bengali Devi for designer Anju Modi’s Bengali-inspired collection at PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2012.

Dixit adorned the look of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Chandramukhi as she recited a Kabi Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s poem, and latter sashayed the runaway with her charismatic smile and her hair in loose curls. The Bengali song Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ashe in Amitabh Bachchan’s voice played in the background.

The entire collection was inspired by rich Bengali Literature and Culture and films inspired by it, such as Charulata Devi, Parineeta, Devdas and the likes. The ramp had scenes from black-and-white Bengali films playing in the backdrop, showing women at the banks of Ganga and the iconic Howrah Bridge of Kolkata.
