Fashion for a Cause…

Many would agree that month of August is one of the busiest month when it comes to the business of fashion in India. After the dazzling Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai and the Delhi Couture Week in the Capital, the fashion capital is now hosting the India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) 2012 at Grand Hyatt Mumbai.

IIJW’s brand ambassador for three years now, actress Sonam Kapoor and evergreen Hema Malini opened the show yesterday in company of several members of the film and television fraternity. Kapoor cat-walked the ramp in a stunning monotone solid green Dolce & Gabbana gown paired with a Gitanjali diamond necklace while Malini looked beautiful in a classic conventional saree.

BETI campaign on Day 1 brought to the fore the fight against crimes against women – such as female foeticide and infanticide, molestation, rapes and dowry deaths. Showing their support for the cause, Tinsel town’s stars Vivek Oberoi, Zayed Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Raima Sen, Rohit Roy, Samir Soni, and the likes walked the runaway.

Sufi singer Kavita Seth and Sonu Nigam too gave their soulful presentation, while actress Mugdha Godse closed the show for Dwarkadas Chandumal in a black ensemble paired with striking diamond and ruby necklace.
